Material Logic on Artsy︎︎︎

Material Logic is defined as an analytical method that examines the way in which conclusions are drawn about an idea, subject or thing; it also analyzes the very content of a premise, so that the end result is in accordance with reality or aligns with truth. In this conversational exhibition, the works of John Gaunt, Tim Tozer and John-Mark Schlink intersect as structural configurations through the lens of constructivist and deconstructionist ideas in a contemporary context. Through reconfiguring form, line and perspective, these artists call into question the meaning and purpose of structure itself as informed by their varying interests architecture, modernist design, and the flexible relationship between object and illusion. Experimentation combined with careful deliberation exemplify their processes, materials and methods, created through painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture and collage media.
