MODERN MAGICK

“Magick” refers to ancient spiritual practices that enpowered people to bring forth change in their personal lives and local communities. Many of the practioners, whether identified as magi, shamans, witches or priests, embodied the narratives of creation and endeavored to connect with divine forces through the enactment of symbolic rituals, words and images. In this exhibition, the artists present work that is influenced by mystical, spiritual and cosmological narratives, formed through personal experiences, cultural references and art-historical precedents. They imagine their roles as contemporary creators whose imagery, material choices and processes reference and celebrate themes of mystery and enigmatic beauty.
